Ο Πάπας Φραγκίσκος έφτασε στην Ελλάδα

Ο Προκαθήμενος της Ρωμαιοκαθολικής Εκκλησίας, Πάπας Φραγκίσκος, έφτασε πριν από λίγα λεπτά στο αεροδρόμιο Ελευθέριος Βενιζέλος των Αθηνών.
Εκ μέρους της κυβέρνησης τον υποδέχτηκε στον Διεθνή Αερολιμένα Αθηνών ο υπουργός Εξωτερικών Νίκος Δένδιας. Οι δυο τους θα έχουν μία μικρή συνάντηση σε αίθουσα του αεροδρομίου.
Στη συνέχεια, θα βρεθεί στο Προεδρικό Μέγαρο, όπου θα γίνει δεκτός από την πρόεδρο της Δημοκρατίας και θα συναντηθεί με τον Έλληνα πρωθυπουργό.
Αργότερα, θα μιλήσει σε αξιωματούχους, μέλη του διπλωματικού σώματος και εκπροσώπους της κοινωνίας των πολιτών, και θα ακολουθήσει στις 16.00 το απόγευμα συνάντηση με τον Αρχιεπίσκοπο Αθηνών Ιερώνυμο στην Αρχιεπισκοπή Αθηνών. Η πρώτη του ημέρα στην Αθήνα θα ολοκληρωθεί με τη μεταβασή του στον Ιερό Καθεδρικό Ναό Αγίου Διονυσίου Αρεοπαγίτου των Καθολικών για να μιλήσει σε επισκόπους, ιερείς, μέλη μοναχικών ταγμάτων και της Αφιερωμένης Ζωής, ιεροσπουδαστές και κατηχητές της Καθολικής Εκκλησίας.
Η επιστροφή του στην Ελλάδα συμπίπτει με τη συμπλήρωση σαράντα ενός ετών διπλωματικών σχέσεων μεταξύ της χώρας μας και της Αγίας Έδρας.Ο Πάπας Φραγκίσκος είναι υπέρμαχος της ενεργής εκκλησιαστικής διπλωματίας και της προσέγγισης της Ρωμαιοκαθολικής Εκκλησίας και της Ελληνορθόδοξης.
Η επίσκεψη είναι ύψιστης σημασίας για τους χιλιάδες Καθολικούς που ζουν στην Ελλάδα και όχι μόνο.
